How to encourage purchases in your online store

The willingness to buy online is on the rise worldwide, although in Spain there are still some reservations on the part of consumers. Resolving any doubts that may arise in advance, especially regarding payment, can make the difference between a simple visit to your website and a purchase, and between the purchase being repeated and including a recommendation or not.

Here are 5 aspects to consider when selling online:

Include the price with VAT from the beginning

There is no need to fear that the customer will back down from their purchase decision when they see the real price with VAT. If they have to be scared, they will do so anyway, but by announcing it from the start we will ensure that the consumer does not feel cheated. If after checking the final price they go ahead with the purchase, it is because they are really interested in the product.

Provide as many payment options as possible

It consists of exposing all the facilities. You can never give too many payment methods: payment by credit card, Paypal, bank transfer, cash on delivery… Including as many options as possible so that the client can decide how to make the payment is always the right decision.

Clarify all possible doubts of the consumer

It’s essential to clarify everything from the start, and a FAQ page is the element that will help us do this. It will be necessary to explain the payment methods, shipping costs and policies, etc. Ask yourself what you would want to know if you were the buyer.

Do not request more personal data than necessary

Some consumers are very reluctant to provide too much personal information on the Internet, but even more so if said data is linked to something that has to do with bank details and payment methods. You should not ask for more than the necessary information and simplify the process as much as possible so as not to scare away potential buyers.

Explain the shipping cost policy in detail from the start

Shipping policies (including costs) and guarantees regarding returns are basic aspects that every user looks favorably upon when purchasing online. Charging an additional amount for shipping costs on top of the amount that the customer thought was the final amount is a very common mistake that we must try to avoid in order not to cause the customer to back out.
