Common Mistakes Freelancers Make on Facebook

Freelancers are using Facebook incorrectly

Self-employed people can of course make ideal use of Facebook, but many of these professionals miss out on all their opportunities on social media by using the Facebook page completely wrong.

Wrong approach

Freelancers think they are going to make it big and fill their agenda in a short time by using Facebook for business. This is true, but it has to be done properly. Many freelancers use Facebook in the wrong way, which means many opportunities are missed.

The first likers collect

It often goes wrong when opening the business page. ZZP’ers completely assume that a business page without likers will never do well. What do you do then? Then you invite your personal friends and acquaintances to like and share your page. This way, the first likers are easily collected. Not wise, because you can hardly use friends on your business page unless they are in the same industry. A very big disadvantage is that friendly also react very personally to your posts, and sometimes even with inappropriate language. This is at the expense of the professionalism of your Facebook page.

Your business is not married!

Another mistake we see a lot is that of the so-called marital status. Your Facebook page should be seen as a company, and a company is not married. Of course, it is nice for your husband or wife if they are mentioned on the business page, but it is not smart. Customers always look further and easily end up in your circles. In addition, you should not want people to see that your husband or wife is married to a ‘TTM Communicatie’, for example. That is downright strange.

Too much private

Of course, you sometimes experience things in your personal life that you just want to share with the whole world. Don’t do this on your business Facebook page, because your customers don’t always like this. There will certainly be customers who will experience you as ‘friendlier’ because of this, but there are also those who will immediately write you off because of a lack of professionalism. So don’t do it! That’s what you have a private page for.
